Summertime is special. As a farmer’s son, summers were a mix of freedom and work. We always had responsibilities from cultivating corn to cleaning barns to weeding our gardens. We also had a strong sense of freedom, being able to explore, think, and play. Summers produced a good farmer’s tan (arms up to our short sleeves, face and neck) and a refreshed inner wellbeing. Martin ShkreliA compliance officer who worked for Martin Shkreli’s investment fund quit after less than a year because of his boss’s questionable practices. Jackson Su testified last week to a federal jury at Shkreli’s fraud trial in Brooklyn, New York. Su worked for Shkreli’s fund — MSMB Capital — from January 2012 until December of that year.

At #SocialNow conference recently, Luis Suarez shared a slide by Thierry de Baillon on ways to prepare for the dark side of technology. I loved the ideas and decided to sketch the approach. Once again these ideas reinforced my belief that leading organizations and self in the future is all about the stuff like connections, empathy, flow, learning and thinking differently. THE market in “green” bonds, which tie the capital raised in bond issues to environmentally friendly investments, is growing. A decade ago total issuance from municipalities and multilateral development banks was worth just a few hundred million dollars annually. In 2016 issuance reached $97bn according to SEB, a Swedish bank.

TWO more airports have joined Abu Dhabi in having a laptop ban lifted. On July 5th passengers flying from Dubai or Istanbul to America were told that they will once more be allowed to take large electronic devices into plane cabins, rather than having to stow them in the hold, which they have been required to do since March.
